The Isle Wiki

The River is one of the many biomes on the V3 and Thenyaw Island maps.

Description[]

It's a body of water cutting through the map. The water is drinkable, and AI Fish will be added later on. Great for migrating herds to follow due to the abundance of water and food along it. Unlike Lakes, a river can be as long as half the map, so theres no fear of predators lurking in every square foot of water. (You should still be careful though).

It was shown in the Hope trailer and shown countless times by the devs that the upcoming Deinosuchus's primary habitat would be rivers, and also lakes. It will be the first truly semi-aquatic animal in the game, and it will highly utilize rivers to ambush unsuspecting dinosaurs.

River Systems[]

Isle V3 is currently the only map in the game with a river system, which means there is a stream order. For example, one of the main rivers on Isle V3 is the Lazy River, or the Delta River. The Lazy River has a stream order of 1, as it stems from The Wash, a lake. From it stems the Rocky River, giving it a stream order of 2, and from that stems the Pierce River, which has a stream order of 3.

Several other small rivers stem from the Lazy River, but few of them split more than once, giving them stream orders or 2. This system allows for a realistic river system, instead of just randomly placed rivers like Thenyaw Island, which tend to begin at a lake and then end in a structure of some kind or another lake.

Waterfalls[]

On Isle V3, at some points, rivers have waterfalls, which can range from small to gigantic. Some of them have openings behind them, where you can cleverly hide your dinosaur.
