The Puertasaurus is a colossal sauropod and the largest dinosaur in the game. Its defining trait is quite simply its sheer size and strength.

Puertasaurus was added to The Isle on the game's release, along with Gallimimus, Austroraptor, Carnotaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Shantungosaurus,

In Real Life

Discovered back in 2005 the Puertasaurus is only known from a few pieces of vertebrae and femur, but we do know from these remains that it was an incredibly large animal..

Early estimations of this giant gave it a length of 40 meters (131 feet) and a weight of 50 tons, which would have made it longest and one of the heaviest dinosaurs known (excluding speculative species such as Bruhathkayosaurus). Puertasaurus has been re-estimated at a more conservative size of 28 meters (91 feet) .

As a member of the Saltasauroidea group of the sauropods within the family of Longkosauria, Puertasaurus is akin to the most massive animals that have ever roamed the land such as Argentinosaurus and Patagotitan. The Longkonsauria were distinguished by other members of the Saltasauroidea by having a wider and more robust skeletal structure to support their enormous bulk.

In The Isle

Usually, there are very few Puertasaurus around due to their slow speed, and just a generally boring gameplay style that few players find appealing. They are normally played for their sheer size, power, and relative invincibility.

The Puertasaurus is one of two dinosaurs (The other being Camarasaurus) that currently can attack forwards and backward. The Puertasaurus is practically unkillable, even to multiple apex predators or possibly even Hyperendocrin Strains.

It is also the only dinosaur that can walk underwater without drowning. (Does not float and does not have swim animation) This can be utilized to move unseen by apex predators or cross bodies of water that would normally take hours to go around with the slow Puertasaurus.

It is currently only playable in Sandbox mode.

General overview:

Pros:

• Nearly invincible to all forms of normal attacks.
• Can attack both in front and behind themselves.
• Very powerful frontal attack that can kill almost anything in one hit (except strains and other Puertasaurus).
• Intimidating size.
• Cannot break its legs

Cons:

• Is exceptionally slow due to its size.
• Sprint is only a small speed boost.
• Extremely vulnerable to bleed
• Cannot swim; walks on the surface underneath
• Slow turning rate and slow front attack makes defending yourself very difficult.
• Easy to spot.
• Due to its size (+animation) it can't rest.

Behind The Scenes

In a recent stream's chat, it was confirmed by Dondi that the Puertasaurus will eventually be replaced by the Brachiosaurus.

On 1/12/2020 it was confirmed that the Puertasaurus would indeed be replaced with the Brachiosaurus, which will be AI for the time being. It was also announced that the Pue will be scrapped.
